Low Libido: Reasons You May Have It
If you are feeling tired, having mood swings, gaining weight
for no apparent reason and having hot flashes (suddenly feeling
overheated and then you may become wet from perspiring. Once
the overheated feeling leaves you may feel cold and clammy.)
you could be having symptoms of menopause. Menopause can cause
low libido. Your hormones can be fluctuating all over the
place. You may be experiencing vaginal dryness and pain with
intercourse. Menopause usually starts in the forties for most
women although it can start at a younger age.
If you think you are experiencing menopause you can try to
eat healthy, exercise, get plenty of rest each night, try to
avoid sugar and use artificial sweeteners instead so you do not
have to give up sugar altogether. If you are still experiencing
low libido signs and symptoms make an appointment with your
physician so he or she can help with hormonal balancing.
Men can start to see and feel changes in their bodies in
their forties and fifties also. Low libido and sexual
dysfunction can occur. Frequently this can add to depression
and a doctor’s appointment should be made to help evaluate
andropause. (The male form of menopause.) Your doctor can find
the right antidepressant that can work for you.
Another reason you may be experiencing low libido is due to
the types of medications you are on. If you notice a change in
your libido after starting a newly prescribed medication please
seek advice from your medical doctor. He or she can try another
medication to replace the existing medication causing the low
libido. You may have had no problems with a medication that you
have been taking, but suddenly notice you are experiencing a
low libido. If this is the case, make an appointment with your
physician so he or she can evaluate your situation. Having a
healthy libido is an important part of life.
Some people just have a lower libido than others. Each
person is a unique individual and the simplest remedy is to try
to find someone who has a libido to match yours. (This is
easier said than done.)
Whether you are male or female you may experience a low
libido. It is important that you try to exercise, eat healthy,
get plenty of rest and try to reduce stress. Also, make an
appointment with your physician so he or she can diagnose the
underlying cause of your low libido. Once you find out what is
causing your low libido, your doctor can treat it and you can
go back to a healthier lifestyle and enjoy an intimate
relationship.
