Low Male Libido Symptoms and Causes
Low male libido or andropause affects a lot of men as they
get older. After the age of thirty a drop in testosterone
levels plays a huge part in low male libido. A male usually
experiences andropause between the ages of forty and fifty
although some men experience andropause starting at the early
age of thirty five or even later in life at the age of sixty
five.
Symptoms of andropause include:
Lower energy levels
Harder to lose weight
Unable to get rid of fat
Loss of interest in sex
A male’s testosterone level starts to drop at the age of
thirty and continues to drop every ten years at a rate of ten
percent each decade. As testosterone drops a man’s lack in bone
density contributes to risk of spine fractures, hip fractures
and wrist fractures. Men going through andropause will also
experience muscle loss strength-wise, hair loss, immunity
lessens, possible depression and possibly unable to achieve an
erection, or once an erection is achieved he may not be able to
sustain an erection.
Other causes of low male libido can be from medications.
Drugs such as marijuana, heroin, cocaine, alcohol can affect a
man’s libido. Low male libido can also be caused by particular
antidepressants. If on antidepressants, seek medical advice
from your doctor. He or she may be able to switch the patient
to another antidepressant that will not affect the libido.
A man may experience a low sex drive if he is not feeling
well due to a cold or the flu. Just remember every person is
different so while the man is trying to get to feeling better,
he may not be up for sex at this time until he feels a lot
healthier and better.
If a man has a lot of things on his mind this can cause low
male libido. With so many things literally running through his
mind, he does not have the time or the energy to focus on sex.
He is so busy possibly worrying, thinking and most likely
trying to fix other items/areas in his life that sex is the
last thing on his mind.
