Male Low Libido Problem
Most men would not want to admit they have a problem,
especially when their sex drive is gone. Low libido in men can
create many relationship issues and lead to frustration and
stress. Yet, this is the problem that must be addressed.
Differences in sexual desire can create immense distress. If
not cured, this problem can ruin a marriage or relationships
altogether.
The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)
conducted a research, which showed that about 43 percent of
women and 31 percent of men has to deal with sexual problems,
one of them is low libido.
Before one can start searching for a cure of the low libido
problem, one should diagnose the case and find the cause of the
problem. Male libido can be affected by both physical and
psychological problems. Some of the physical causes of male low
libido are low level of testosterone in the body, tiredness,
alcohol or drug abuse, side effects of antidepressants or
tranquilizers, and certain diseases, such as cardiovascular
disease, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, endocrine or
neurological disorders, anemia, arthritis, and chronic
pain.
Among psychological causes of male low libido is depression,
stress, anger, unsettled relationship conflicts, desire to
control or reprimand a spouse, sexual orientation controversy
or uncertainty, or past sexual abuse.
There are a number of steps that wives or girlfriends can do to
help their partners overcome their low libido problems. First,
it would be beneficial to remember that they cannot always
change their men by asking them to change. However, they can
change their own reaction and hence, change the situation as
well. Second, it would be a good idea to try to persuade the
partner to see a doctor. Third, many women feel that their
partners lose interest in them because of the way they look,
because they weigh too much or are not very good in bed. Women
should remember that their partner’s low libido problem might
have nothing to do with the way they look and therefore, women
should stop blaming themselves for their partner’s low libido
problem. Talking with the partner on relationship issues in a
non-judgmental way might help. In addition, spending more time
together might help create the appropriate atmosphere and aid
in curing the problem.
